01. Overview

  • Employee benefits can be valuable and still go unused when employees don't know what they have or where to find it.

SPARSH was designed around a simple idea: bring an employee's benefits into one clear, accessible experience.

Instead of requiring employees to understand different policies, providers and portals, SPARSH brings health, insurance, wellbeing, protection and lifestyle benefits together in one place.

The platform presents benefits in terms of what employees actually need to do.

They can understand their insurance coverage, explore voluntary top-ups, access healthcare services, find preventive health programmes, discover women's wellbeing provisions and explore preferential employee partnerships.

This changes the experience from simply communicating benefits to helping employees discover and use them.

The product is therefore less about displaying a benefits catalogue and more about creating a practical employee-facing layer around everything that is already available to them.

02. Client Background

  • Saint-Gobain is a global organisation operating across the construction and building-materials ecosystem.

Within a large organisation, employee benefits can span multiple areas, providers and eligibility rules.

SPARSH brings these different offerings together into a single employee-facing experience.

The platform covers insurance and protection, healthcare access, preventive health, wellbeing initiatives, women's wellbeing provisions and employee partnerships.

Rather than expecting employees to remember which benefit belongs to which provider, SPARSH organises the experience around the employee's needs.

    That distinction is important.

The platform is not simply another HR information page. Its purpose is to make benefits easier to understand, discover and act upon.

03. Challenge

  • The challenge was one that many large organisations face: having benefits is one thing; making them easy to understand and use is another.

Employees may have access to medical insurance, accident cover, life protection, healthcare services, preventive health programmes, leave provisions and partner benefits.

But these benefits don't naturally form one coherent experience.

They can belong to different programmes and providers, have different eligibility rules and require different actions.

SPARSH needed to turn that complexity into something an employee could understand quickly.

The experience had to answer practical questions without forcing employees to decode insurance terminology or search through long documents.

The design therefore needed to balance two competing requirements:

Present enough information to be useful, while keeping the experience simple enough to navigate.

04. Solution

  • The solution was to organise the experience around the employee rather than around the internal structure of the benefits programme.

The platform begins with a consolidated view of what is available and then breaks the information into clear areas.

    Insurance and protection

SPARSH presents base medical, accident and life cover together, while also separating voluntary top-up and voluntary group-term-life options.

This gives employees a clearer picture of both their existing protection and the additional options available to them.

    Healthcare access

Healthcare is presented as an action rather than simply a benefit description.

The platform surfaces 24×7 doctor consultations, medicines and diagnostics through MediBuddy Gold, making the path from knowing about the benefit to accessing it more direct.

    Preventive wellbeing

The experience also moves beyond treatment.

Annual health screening and recurring expert-led wellness sessions are presented as ongoing benefits, encouraging employees to use them rather than discovering them only during annual benefit communication.

    Women's wellbeing

SPARSH gives dedicated visibility to We Care benefits, including paid wellbeing leave and a hygiene allowance for eligible field roles.

    Employee partnerships

The platform also makes workplace partnerships easier to discover, including benefits associated with financial services, electronics and childcare/education.

The overall approach is straightforward: organise a potentially complicated benefits ecosystem around the questions employees actually have.

05. Outcome

  • SPARSH creates a single digital destination for a broad range of employee benefits that might otherwise be difficult to discover or understand.

The experience makes the benefits more visible by grouping them into meaningful categories and explaining them in practical terms.

Instead of presenting employees with a collection of policy documents or disconnected provider links, the platform creates a more coherent journey from benefit discovery to action.

That is particularly important for benefits that employees may only think about when they need them, such as insurance, healthcare or financial support.

The platform also gives ongoing wellbeing programmes and employee partnerships a more visible place within the employee experience rather than treating benefits as something relevant only during annual enrolment.

No specific adoption, usage or efficiency metrics are being claimed because they have not been independently established.

06. Conclusion

  • A benefits programme can contain a lot of value and still be difficult to navigate.

The challenge isn't always adding more benefits. Sometimes it is making the benefits people already have easier to find, understand and use.

SPARSH approaches the problem from that perspective.

The experience starts with the employee's needs rather than the organisation's internal structure.

Instead of asking employees to know which provider manages which benefit, the platform brings those benefits together and explains them in a way that supports action.

That makes the platform a useful example of a broader product principle:

Good enterprise software doesn't expose organisational complexity to the user. It absorbs that complexity and presents a simpler experience.
